Music Teacher

Creating webquests can be fun and a learning experience for the teacher and the students. During this presentation you are going to start making a webquest in Google docs and learn how to use Google for research and presentations.

First is deciding what you would like the students to research. For example I teach general music, so instead of taking notes on each decade of music the students are responsible for teaching the class. So I assign each pair of students with a decade of music, share all of my Google docs with them and they are on their way.

Second step is deciding what tasks you would like to complete. For example, I have the decades of music Webquest in 5 different tasks.
1. Researching their assigned music decade
2. Watching a video and completing a video response
3. Creating Google Slides presentation with partner
4. Adding fancy pictures, transitions, and text entrances to Google Slides presentation
5. Presenting it to the class

Third step is researching safe and informational websites for the students to use, and creating the different items in number 2.

Fourth step is sharing all of these items with the students and teaching them how to share it with you.

Below is what my webquest looks like. And examples of all of my projects.

DECADES WEBQUEST
In this webquest you are going to find different information about the decade of music that you are assigned. You and your partner are going to find out information on various websites, do a video response on Miss Beal’s Moodle site, create a google PowerPoint with at least 8 different slides including pictures and the required information, and then you will present your findings as a pair or by yourself to the class.

This project should take about 5 classes.
1st class - Research your decade and fill out the informational sheet on Google Docs
2nd class - Finish Task 1 Research, share it with Miss Beal, and do the __video response__
3rd class - Finish the video response and start creating your PowerPoint in Google docs with your partner. Make sure one person makes it and then shares it with Miss Beal and with their partner. To share it with Miss Beal type in __hillary-beal@esasd.net__
4th class - Add flashy items (pictures, text entrances etc...) to PowerPoint
5th class - Present the PowerPoints
Task 1
Research
During this class you are required to find information about your assigned decade. You can use the websites below to find your information, pictures, and music to complete the work. While researching make sure you complete Task 1 Research and save your work in the word document along the way.

Task 2
During the remainder of this class and/or the beginning of next class please go to the __Video Response__ for your decade, and answer the questions after watching the video attached. Please do not go to somewhere else to answer them.
Task 3 and 4
PowerPoint
Start creating your google Slides presentation with your partner. You will need 8 slides on your Google Slides presentation and will have to include all of the information from your research, and some images that represent the research that you found. You can do a Google Image search and save those pictures to your desktop and then drag them into the google Slides presentation.
You will need to check the __PowerPoint Rubric__ to make sure you have everything included so you get full credit.
When you are finished please make sure you share the document with Miss Beal at __hillary-beal@esasd.net__
Task 5
Present your PowerPoint to the class with your group.

Below is what my lesson plan looks like. I use a Unit Plan because of the different steps and because of the amount of classes that it takes. It takes me 5 classes in the computer lab.
